Ramona Business Roundup: ALDI update, restaurants opening and closing – Ramona Sentinel

A large ALDI store that will sell mostly ALDI-exclusive brands of groceries and household items is expected to open at the corner of 16th and Main streets in Ramona as early as June or July, officials said.

Skip Janes, ALDI director of real estate, said the new store, being built from the ground up, will fill a void left by the Kmart that closed last August.

Rachel’s, which will be managed by Rachel Ludwig, replaces The MainCourse Restaurant at 620 Main St. MainCourse, owned by Orrin Day, has been a fixture the past four-and-a-half years, offering an upscale dining experience featuring steaks, chops and seafood.

The couple have delayed some of their events, but are still on track to host weddings, with one scheduled in March, three in April and another in May.

Even amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Lavender & Olive will find ways to accommodate guests with social distancing, Zoom meetings on a big screen and tables spaced apart, the Hoffos said.
