A survey of Town of Webb business owners and their employees is the next step in a housing feasibility study the Herkimer County Industrial Development Agency is conducting in the town.
The Herkimer County IDA is providing funding for an Environmental Site Assessment of a town-owned parcel of land on Joy Tract Road and funding a feasibility study for housing proposed to be built upon that site.
The feasibility study will be applicable to any available site within the township, according to a statement released by the IDA.
The town, located in the Adirondack Park, has a year-round population of about 1,800, he said, but that number swells to 30,000 to 40,000 during the summer months and lack of affordable housing for workers has been a problem for years.
They also are asked if they feel there is adequate affordable housing in their community, how COVID-19 business restrictions have affected them and whether or not they are satisfied with the housing choices available to them.
