A new supply of 3.5 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine from China arrived Friday morning in Turkey.
The vaccine, produced by the pharmaceutical company Sinovac, was transported to Istanbul on a Turkish Airlines flight from Beijing.
That brings the total number of doses received by the Turkish government thus far to 13 million, out of a total of 50 million reserved.
Nearly 1.8 million citizens, including Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, have received their first dose and are awaiting the second dose, expected after an interval of 28 days.
Turkey has registered nearly 2.5 million coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic, with 25,605 deaths.
